Position Summary
Ava is seeking to hire a temporary Contracts Manager, reporting to the Legal Director. Ava is looking for candidates to support a variety of compliance filings and reporting obligations including contract management, where this role will be the principal coordinator of various contracts and responsible for working with Ava staff, Ava's outside counsel, Ava's Legal Director, and third-party vendors to facilitate the diligent execution and management of contracts. This role will work collaboratively across departments on contract administration and compliance. This will be a paid full time position of 5 days per week (40 hours), starting in February 2026 and lasting through October 2026.
Position Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to Public Records Act requests.
- Coordinate with outside counsel to facilitate medium and large purchase transactions and non-disclosure agreements.
- Draft and refine statements of work for Staff
- Apply playbook fallbacks in contract negotiations
- Maintain metadata for agreements in Ironclad
- Track legal spend against budgets and serve as the primary liaison between Legal and Finance.
- Initiate, archive, and share Exhibits to NDAs with PG&E & NCPA as needed
- Archive Exhibits initiated by HR in Ironclad
- NCPA Exhibit A's (staff if needed after onboarding) & B's (vendors if needed)
- Share all executed Exhibits with NCPA for their records (unless we've automated this in the workflow)
- PGE Exhibit A's (staff if needed after onboarding & vendors if needed)
- Board Meeting Material Preparation
- Contracts Entered Into (report from Ironclad)
- Review Board Items prepared by Staff that ask the Board to approve an Action (pertaining to Contracts, Policies, and others)
- Adhering to agency policies and procedures
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- 3 years of professional work experience required, five preferred.
- Experience coordinating the negotiation and execution of contracts.
- Experience working with a government agency or county is preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial contracts and terms.
- Ability to achieve job objectives with limited supervision.
- Detail-oriented.
- Able to achieve work priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance processes.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $67.93 per hour (equates to annual estimated rate of $141,288.19 per year).
Location and Working Conditions
This position will be based in Ava headquarters in Oakland, near BART. Ava's team has a hybrid approach inclusive of in-office and remote work. This role is expected to go into the office Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays.

Licenses/Certificates
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license or the ability to provide alternate transportation and a safe driving record.
