Position Summary
The Director, Brand Marketing Endurance Sports (with Product Strategy for Pearl iZUMi) is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving brand marketing across Pearl iZUMi, Nathan, and EQYP, and owning product strategy exclusively for Pearl iZUMi. This role partners closely with the VP of Marketing, Endurance Sports, to build and execute comprehensive brand and product strategies that strengthen consumer connection, elevate brand positioning, and deliver commercial growth.
The Director will develop integrated brand plans, seasonal storytelling, and full-funnel marketing execution across all brands while shaping the long-term product vision and go-to-market strategy for Pearl iZUMi. This role requires strong cross-functional leadership, deep consumer understanding, and a passion for endurance, fitness, cycling, and running communities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Brand Leadership Pearl iZUMi, Nathan, EQYP
- Serve as a key business leader and strategic partner across all three brands, driving innovative, consumer-led marketing strategies.
- Develop annual and seasonal brand plans that maximize consumer relevance, category leadership, and profitable growth.
- Build and execute multi-channel marketing plans across digital, social, retail, PR, partnerships, and experiential.
- Lead campaign development, seasonal launches, and integrated storytelling that reinforce brand identity and drive demand.
- Partner with Digital and eCommerce teams to enhance performance marketing, content effectiveness, and online consumer experience.
- Ensure all brand assets and communications align with guidelines and maintain creative excellence.
Product Strategy Pearl iZUMi Only
(Exclusive responsibility for this brand)
- Partner with Product, Merchandising, and Design to define long-term product strategy and seasonal category direction.
- Lead product positioning, consumer benefit frameworks, and feature/technology storytelling for all Pearl iZUMi categories.
- Influence portfolio architecture, hero product prioritization, segmentation, and pricing alignment based on consumer and market insights.
- Ensure close alignment between product creation milestones and marketing readiness for seasonal launches.
- Own Pearl iZUMi go-to-market planning, ensuring product, brand, and commercial teams are aligned on strategic priorities and execution.
- Use consumer insights, category intelligence, and market trends to guide product evolution and innovation planning.
Consumer Insights & Category Strategy
- Lead consumer insights into development across endurance sports, cycling, running, and fitness.
- Identify whitespace and cultural opportunities that inform both brand strategy and Pearl iZUMi product roadmap.
- Analyze competitive landscapes to strengthen positioning, differentiation, and category leadership.
Partnerships, Community & Advocacy
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships that enhance brand awareness, product credibility, and community engagement.
- Oversee athlete, ambassador, grassroots, and field marketing programs across all brands.
- Support creative direction for photo and video shoots related to product launches, campaigns, and brand storytelling.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Align closely with Sales, Product, Creative, Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure seamless planning and execution.
- Deliver timely communication of brand and product strategy updates, performance insights, and key initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional integration for Pearl iZUMi go-to-market processes, ensuring consumer-ready execution.
POSITION SPECIFICS
- Full-time position
- MondayFriday, 8:30 a.m.5:00 p.m.
- Based in Fountain Valley, CA
- Expected travel: ~20%
- In-office attendance: Minimum 2 days per week, subject to change
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct oversight of Marketing Communication functions, including earned/paid/owned media and event/grassroots activation.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of marketing, digital, and creative professionals.
- Implement and support employee training and development programs.
- Partner with HR on coaching, counseling, and corrective actions.
- Ensure performance objectives are established and completed on time.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree (Marketing, Advertising or related field preferred).
- 10+ years of brand marketing/strategy experience in consumer-driven organizations where marketing directly drives revenue.
- Deep understanding of the active lifestyle consumer—particularly cycling, running, fitness, and endurance communities—and a personal passion for these activities.
- Proven experience building programs that deliver significant revenue and brand growth.
- Experience in marketing in Sports, Outdoor, Endurance, Fitness, or Sporting Goods categories strongly preferred.
- Experience in launching and scaling DTC brands, ecosystems, and frameworks highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to shape a strategic vision and communicate it throughout the organization.
- Experience building global or cross-channel marketing plans that meet/exceed business objectives.
- Strong track record managing multiple workstreams and prioritizing based on ROI.
- Hands-on delivery of market share, sales growth, and profit improvements.
