OverviewEstablished in 1968, Canyon Crest has been the preferred Club of choice for families, both avid and new golfers, and tennis enthusiasts. Nestled in the beautiful city of Riverside, California, the comfortable yet elegant clubhouse has panoramic views of the San Bernardino Mountains, tropical palms, pines and eucalyptus trees, and the lush greenery of the fairways.
Essential Purpose:
To manage the staff and operations of the Golf Department, to ensure first-class quality service while maintaining the highest possible levels of employee morale.
Experience Required
2 years experience as Director of Golf or Head Professional preferred or 4 years as a 1st Assistant and/or lead role in operations, tournament or event management. A motivated individual that is looking to advance their career with the golf business and PGA or LPGA.
Educational Level:
BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent. English fluency required. PGA Class A member preferred and in good standing. Previous experience in a resort of comparable quality preferred. Valid California driver's license required.
Essential Responsibilities
- To satisfactorily complete daily paperwork to include the processing of the department's daily deposit, as required, and completion of all corresponding logs and reports. All transactions are to be reviewed for irregularities, specifically ensuring all voids, returns and discounts have the appropriate backup and approval.
- To hire, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to his/her position, to maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
- To understand and respond to the current market trends, to oversee the purchase of all materials, supplies, and equipment needed to maintain and upgrade the quality of departmental goods and services.
- To create and ensure the buying plan stays within budget, and to maintain an adequate inventory of high quality merchandise in the golf shop, that will meet business demands.
- To establish and enforce golf shop goals and policies.
- To oversee the tournament department and assist in booking rounds.
- To review the tee sheet on a daily basis, and ensure the yield and utilization are being maximized.
- To oversee the JC Players Card is being promoted to all golfers by the staff, and to meet established sales goals.
- To oversee JC Golf Pace of Play policy and ensure golf shop staff, starters and player assistants are following the current policy.
- To ensure that all golf facilities, services, and equipment meet golf course/luxury resort quality standard, and guest satisfaction.
- To have professional and consistent communication with all golf related departments, including weekly meetings with any departments impacted by golf operations procedures.
- To organize and schedule golf functions for men, ladies, and mixed events.
- To attend trade shows, as schedule permits, to stay abreast of current trends in active-wear and accessories.
- To prepare annual departmental budget and manage the course's operations within the budgets.
- To actively market the golf course to the golfing community and to assume direct responsibility for reaching round goals, and to ensure all marketing is tracked properly.
- To ensure all golfers are provided with excellent service for their golf needs through tournament programs, teaching, golf clinics, well-stocked golf shop, food and beverage, and a friendly atmosphere.
- To ensure that the golf course, golf shop, grounds, equipment, and all other facets of the course are properly maintained and protected.
- To conduct periodic staff meetings to ensure all policies are understood and being followed.
- To continually monitor and control departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining the budget, and monitoring staffing levels, salaries, and overtime so they stay within the prescribed guidelines.
- To oversee and reconcile monthly invoices.
- To assist in the development and administration of the club marketing and promotional programs.
- To conduct periodic walkthroughs of the property.
- To put out to bid, annually, all major vendor supplies needed for departmental operations.
- To properly document Personnel/Payroll transactions, as directed, for processing in Human Resources office.
- To maintain a close and cooperative relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent, Food & Beverage Manager, Corporate Director of Food & Beverage and property Controller.
- To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle cash and charges.
- To promote and comply with all policies and procedures of JC Resorts LLC.
- To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
- To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
- To practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, including the safe operation of all power-driven machinery.
- To ensure safe work practices of all golf staff, including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.
- To ensure departmental safety training for all new golf shop employees, before they begin to work.
- To conduct regular departmental operations meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
- To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
- To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
