- House Officer Research Coordinator
Description
Summary:
Ethos Discovery is a non-profit incubator of scientific innovation dedicated to solving complex medical problems in animals and humans. Discovery takes unmet needs uncovered through discussions with Ethos Veterinary Health doctors and staff, identifies industry partners that may possess or seek to develop solutions to the unmet needs, and then conducts clinical trials to generate data/evidence with the goal of delivering the solution to the unmet need to the market, and more specifically, the Ethos doctors or staff who voiced the unmet need. In addition to its work in innovation, and as a result of Discovery’s close relationship with Ethos Vet Health, Discovery also provides science/research mentorship services to the house officers within the Ethos hospitals. These services include identifying potential research projects, assistance in developing study protocols, support in the launch and conduct of a study, help with statistical analysis needs, and guidance in the writing and publication of scientific manuscripts. With Ethos Vet Health now growing to over 150 hospitals and an increased demand for this level of mentorship in science, the Discovery team now seeks to bring on additional House Officer Research Coordinators to help monitor and oversee the progress of all of the house officers being mentored by the Ethos Discovery team.
Responsibilities:
- Have initial introductory meetings with all new Ethos house officers seeking research mentorship from Ethos Discovery.
- Utilize and maintain an existing client relationship management platform to monitor and track the progress of all house officers currently being mentored.
- Maintain regular contact with all house officers being mentored to ensure that they are staying on target to achieve the goals/action items set within an agreed upon timeline.
- Assist house officers in reviewing an existing list of project topics and work with them to determine a topic that best fits their interests, goals, and timeline.
- Work with the house officers to develop study protocols and related documents (i.e. informed consent forms, sample collection manual of procedures, etc). Oversee the submission of these documents to a contracted animal care and use committee for review.
- In collaboration with the Ethos Discovery Director of Clinical Operations, provide necessary support to house officers conducting prospective clinical trials to ensure that studies are launched in an organized manner and are set up to promote strong accrual. Provide additional support as needed for studies that are multi-institutional.
- Provide assistance with data collection, management, and quality control. In collaboration with Ethos Discovery biostatistician, perform statistical analysis of data once collection has been completed.
