Position Overview
The Senior Project Engineer - Audiovisual (AV) plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of audiovisual (AV) and IT integration projects by providing technical engineering expertise, documentation development, and project execution support. This position partners closely with project managers, design teams, sales, and field engineers to ensure systems are designed, documented, and implemented according to project scope, timelines, and quality standards.
The Senior AV Project Engineer is responsible for interpreting project requirements, developing technical documentation, supporting cost estimation, and identifying risks to help guide projects through a seamless and successful lifecycle. This role requires strong knowledge of AV/IT systems within construction environments and a working understanding of project management principles.

What You'll Do
Engineering & Project Support
- Interpret project scope and technical requirements to support successful project execution
- Assess project risks, timelines, costs, and technical considerations throughout project lifecycle
- Support project teams in developing execution plans aligned with customer and organizational expectations
- Act as Project Lead on assigned projects when required
Design & Documentation
- Produce drawings and technical documentation for inclusion in architectural and construction design packages
- Assist in developing AV/IT system designs and room specifications for client environments
- Ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with project standards and requirements
- Maintain organized engineering documentation throughout project phases
Estimating & Planning
- Support cost estimate development by reviewing blueprints, plans, and customer documentation
- Collaborate with project teams to develop budget estimates including labor, equipment, materials, and milestone schedules
- Contribute technical expertise during project planning and proposal stages
Collaboration & System Execution
- Partner with sales, design, and project teams to ensure alignment across project stakeholders
- Work with field engineers to diagnose and troubleshoot AV/IT systems
- Support system testing, commissioning, and checkout procedures
- Compile and validate testing results according to project specifications
Quality & Client Delivery
- Participate in ongoing project reviews to ensure system performance and quality standards are met
- Support final system approval processes with internal teams and clients
- Ensure solutions meet contractual and operational requirements prior to project closeout
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree in technology or equivalent professional experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 4+ years of AV/IT engineering or design support experience
- AVIXA CTS certification required within 6 months of hire
- CompTIA A+ certification required within one year of hire
- CTS-I or CTS-D certification preferred
- Experience producing technical drawings within architectural design packages
- Proficiency commissioning AV/IT systems
- Strong working knowledge of IBC and NEC standards
- Advanced computer proficiency across Windows and Apple platforms
- Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in project environments
