Bixby Animal Specialty & Emergency (BASE) is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist to join our established and growing internal medicine team in Torrance, California.

We are a privately owned, veterinarian-led specialty and emergency hospital with an existing internal medicine service, strong caseload, and continued growth across all departments. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, high-functioning team while practicing within a larger vision of building a premier multi-specialty hospital.

Residents completing an internal medicine residency are encouraged to apply—we are happy to support the transition into specialty practice.

 
About BASE
Our Torrance location currently operates:

• Emergency and critical care service
• Surgery service
• Internal medicine service
• Anesthesiology service

We are actively expanding, with a new 16,000 sq ft specialty hospital currently in development, scheduled for completion in November 2026.

 
Facilities & Equipment
We are equipped to support advanced internal medicine practice, including:

CT 
Endoscopy and advanced imaging capabilities
Fluoroscopy
Full in-house monitoring and critical care support

Our structure allows for efficient management of complex medical cases with strong support from emergency, surgery, and anesthesia teams.

 
What Your First 6 Months Will Look Like
Integrate into an established internal medicine team
Take on an active caseload from both internal and referral sources
Collaborate on complex multi-service cases
Contribute to continued growth and development of the service

Requirements

What We’re Looking For
Board-certified (DACVIM – Internal Medicine) or residency-trained
Strong clinical and communication skills
Team-oriented and collaborative
Interested in working within a growing specialty hospital
