Based in Boulder, Colorado, Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) is a 501 (c)(6) nonprofit trade association and the leading trade association for the outdoor industry. OIA unites and serves manufacturer, supplier, sales representative, and retailer members through its focus on trade and recreation policy, sustainable business innovation, research, advocacy, and outdoor participation. OIA also established and sponsors the Outdoor Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission centered on engaging American youth in active, outdoor lifestyles and nature-based education and activities.
Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator is a hands-on, entry-level role supporting OIA's marketing and communications team across digital marketing, email marketing, social media, events, content, and design. This person will help execute day-to-day marketing activities, maintain OIA's website, support member- and event-related communications, and utilize AI tools to build reports, automate reporting workflows, and support content channels. This is a great opportunity for an early-career marketer who wants broad, cross-functional experience and room to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Design
- Design and produce engaging marketing assets for digital and print channels, including email graphics, social media content, website visuals, event collateral, signage, and promotional materials, while ensuring brand consistency and adherence to design best practices.
- Write clear, compelling, and audience-focused content for a variety of channels, including email campaigns, website pages, social media posts, event promotions, and internal and external communications.
- Create professional, visually engaging PowerPoint presentations on behalf of executives, subject matter experts, and event speakers for conferences, speaking engagements, board meetings, and other presentations.
- Help maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all marketing channels.
Digital & Email Marketing
- Develop, design, execute, and optimize email marketing campaigns and membership communication, applying best practices for audience segmentation, content development, and performance analysis to improve engagement and results.
- Maintain and update website content through WordPress or a similar content management system (CMS), including creating new pages, editing existing content, troubleshooting issues, and supporting ongoing website enhancements.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with developers or IT on larger website issues.
Social Media
- Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging channels by creating content, engaging audiences, and monitoring performance.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and flag opportunities or issues.
- Track social performance and contribute to monthly reporting.
Data, Reporting & AI Tools
- Support Salesforce data entry, list management, and basic reporting (or willingness to learn Salesforce quickly).
- Help build and maintain marketing reports and dashboards, including utilizing AI tools to streamline reporting and content workflows.
- Leverage artificial intelligence tools to improve marketing efficiency, streamline workflows, solve operational challenges, and enhance the quality and effectiveness of marketing and communications deliverables.
General Marketing Support
- Support the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns by coordinating deliverables, tracking progress, and ensuring all project components are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with the coordination and execution of live events, conferences, and organizational programs by managing logistics, supporting speakers, coordinating with venues and vendors, and ensuring a seamless attendee experience.
- Stay current on marketing trends, emerging technologies, digital tools, and communication best practices, bringing forward new ideas and recommendations to improve team effectiveness and outcomes.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (policy, sustainability, membership) to ensure consistent messaging.
- Support other marketing and communications projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Design skills and familiarity with design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
- Demonstrated writing skills — comfortable drafting clear, engaging copy for different channels and audiences.
- Experience with, or strong aptitude for, social media management and scheduling tools.
- Comfortable learning new software quickly; curiosity about AI tools and how they can improve marketing workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience with WordPress (or another CMS) for content updates.
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM.
- Experience with email marketing platforms.
- Familiarity with using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to build reports, summarize data, or support content creation.
- Interest in or connection to the outdoor recreation industry.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to OIA events and trade shows.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $45,000-$60,000 annually
This range reflects compensation OIA reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications and internal equity.
