The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics with expertise in applied mathematics, with a preference for specializations in nonlinear optimization, the mathematics of machine learning, or stachastic modeling. The appointment is effective Fall 2027. Duties and responsibilities: It is anticipated that the person in this position will teach mathematics or statistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is expected that the new faculty member will engage in scholarly research or grant activity and serve on department, college, and university committees. They also will have the opportunity to mentor student research.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:  

A Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics or related field with expertise in applied probability, stochastic processes, or related areas, from an accredited university by August 1, 2027. 
A commitment and a record of contributions to student success through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service.
University teaching experience, for instance as a lead instructor, teaching assistant, or similar role.
