Job Captain Responsibilities:
We currently have an opening for a Job Captain position. While working under the general supervision of a Project Architect or Project Manager the job captain position provides support primarily in space planning/schematic design, design development, construction documents and detailing, consultant coordination, code research, permitting and construction administration activities. Responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing production of design and construction documents and support of lead project designer. Takes initiative to facilitate problem solving and development of solutions. Interfaces with the Specifications Coordinator and consultants on the technical aspects of construction documents.
Requirements
Specific responsibilities will include:
Participate in site/building surveys and prepare accessibility deficiencies reports.
Review CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements
Provide project coordination and documentation required for agency approval, bidding and construction.
Coordinate with consultants during each phase of documentation
Coordinates with senior staff and design staff through the project.
Obtain data from project designer and project consultants for preliminary specification preparation
Review shop drawings and submittals during construction observation phase
Reinforce the project schedule + budget parameters led by the Project Manager
Develop new construction details as needed
Act as team resource for project related information
Act as a mentor for the junior and intermediate designers
Qualifications:
Self-motivated
Degree from an accredited architectural or related design program (licensure not required)
3-5 years of related, professional experience
Proficient in Revit and familiarity with AutoCad
Demonstrated ability to organize and produce construction documents in Revit
Fundamental knowledge of building codes and construction detailing
Proficient in Sketch-up, In Design, MS Office, ENscape.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
