We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in radar meteorology with experience in deploying mobile radar platforms. This position is funded as part of the NASA INSPYRE field campaign with the goal of improving understanding of pyroCu/Cb dynamics using ground-based radars and lidars. The candidate will be responsible for leading field deployments of WIRC’s Doppler Ka and X band Doppler radars and a G-band radar to active wildfires. The candidate will lead data analyses of radar data for answering key questions on pyroCu/Cb dynamics including fire-induced winds, plume hydro/pyrometeor size distributions and characterizations from dual frequency ratios and polarimetric observations to isolate hydro- and pyro-meteor distributions within the plume and cloud. The candidate will be required to become fire-line qualified and pass an off-road drivers safety course. The post-doctoral position is part is available for up to two years based on satisfactory performance in the first year.
