Company Profile

Fox Valley Christian Action

Company Overview

The master objective of Fox Valley Christian Action is to partner with the local Church in discipling people in under-resourced communities of the Fox River Valley into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

From the beginning, Fox Valley Christian Action has been committed to provide year-round discipleship programs for young children and teenagers in the under-resourced communities of the Fox River Valley. The school districts serving Elgin, Carpentersville and Aurora identify 46,000 children coming from low-income communities in our area. We want to see youth and families break free from the negative patterns that are often seen in our communities.

Our vision is for every youth in the under-resourced communities of the Fox Valley to become part of a local church where they are growing in a life-transforming relationship with Jesus. During our free overnight summer camp programs, there are unique opportunities for youth to be “immersed” in a Christ-centered environment for a week and to see themselves and Jesus in a new way. During the school year programs, we’ve seen the value of supporting youth weekly in their walk with Christ in the context of their daily lives. Our Teen Night Together (TNT) program for middle school and high school teens and after-school clubs for grade school children provide opportunities for involvement throughout the school year. The combination of the summer and school year programs produces the greatest growth in the lives of our youth.

Company History

Since 1977, Fox Valley Christian Action (FVCA) has served children and families living in low-income communities of the Fox Valley. FVCA works in partnership with local churches to help young people grow in their walk with Jesus. According to school district data, there are 46,000 children from Elgin, Carpentersville, and Aurora who are identified as low income. When our ministry began 45 years ago, we began by providing day camps and later overnight camping experiences for children and teenagers at no cost to their families. Over the years, the summer camp ministry has grown and developed significantly. FVCA currently provides the opportunity for 650-750 children and teenagers to attend summer camp or an extended leadership experience at our 85-acre residential camp and conference center in St. Charles. Grade school children come for a week of residential camp. As campers become teenagers, they experience more at FVCA through our CORE and Crossover Leadership Development programs. These extended teen sessions include exploring college and career opportunities, developing their leadership skills and growing in their walk with Jesus.

FVCA also provides opportunities for youth from our communities throughout the school year. For many years, FVCA has provided after-school clubs in partnership with local churches. Most recently, we partnered with another ministry and local churches to provide after-school clubs in 9 locations including 8 public schools. These clubs were suspended in the spring of 2020 due to Covid-19. We are planning to resume kids’ clubs starting in the fall of 2022.

Throughout the school year FVCA also provides the opportunity for many guest groups to utilize our amazing facility. Guest groups include: traditional church retreats, sports clubs, church leadership teams, mission team preparation, a homeschool group, and more!
