Company Overview
The NENN Foundation is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the future of large-animal veterinary medicine through education, workforce development, and emergency preparedness.
By connecting students with practicing veterinarians, agricultural professionals, and hands-on clinical experiences, the Foundation is preparing the next generation of animal-health professionals while supporting the long-term resilience of California's agricultural communities.
The Foundation is expanding beyond youth workforce development into a broader vision that includes creating Southern California's first full-spectrum educational large-animal veterinary teaching hospital—a regional center designed to advance clinical excellence, workforce development, disaster preparedness, and agricultural resilience.

Company History
The NENN Foundation was established in 2020 to empower the next generation of leaders to address the critical shortage in large animal veterinary care.
In 2025, the USDA declared 243 rural veterinary shortage areas in 46 states, which is the highest number of shortage areas ever. (June 2025 AVMA)
The NENN Foundation’s mission is grounded in four key pillars - H.E.A.L:
HEAL: Establish a state of the art, flagship large animal veterinary hospital in Southern California, that will bring the highest standards of care, and provide educational opportunities to veterinary students, as well as ensure every large animal has the opportunity to heal and thrive.
EDUCATE: The NENNtorship Program, fully funded by the NENN Foundation, provides a comprehensive approach to skill development combining hands-on experience with structured didactic learning to build foundational and advanced competencies, empowering future leaders in the veterinary industry.
ADVOCATE: Advocating for essential veterinary services to address the existing gap in large animal veterinary care. An estimated 40% of all large companion animals in the U.S. are unnecessarily euthanized due to a lack of access to veterinary care.
LEAD: By leading with innovation, education, and community impact, the NENN Foundation is elevating expectations and driving forward the future of veterinary excellence.
The foundation’s main program is NENNTORSHIP, which is a large animal veterinary career & workforce development program .
The NENNtorship program, fully funded by the NENN Foundation, is a year long training and mentorship experience for aspiring veterinary professionals aged 16-18. Cadets gain hands?on skills, educational support, and guidance proven to help graduates enter top animal science and veterinary programs. The program started in 2024 with six cadets. In the fall of 2026, due to the large volume of applications (60+), up to thirty students may be selected to join this unique pathway into veterinary medicine.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
This fall (2026), six NENNTORSHIP cadets from our recent cohort, will head to pre-vet undergrad programs.
In 2025, two NENNTORSHIP cadets headed off to pre-vet undergrad programs at UC Davis and Fresno State.
Summer 2026, The NENN Foundation was awarded grant by the CA Fire Foundation. This funding will help to educate NENNTORSHIP cadets on emergency preparedness and animal resource management during fire incidents.
The NENN Foundation procured critically needed medical supplies and nebulizers for large animals impacted by the Southern California fires.
The NENN Foundation secured a network of over 100 animal transporters and 500 boarders to assist displaced animals during California firestorm.
