Description

The Community Development Department is hiring a full-time, benefited Building Inspector II in the Building and Safety Division. The ideal candidate has experience performing building inspections for a government agency, including reviewing architectural, structural, and accessibility compliance for both commercial and residential buildings. They should demonstrate strong attention to detail, be dependable, and make sound decisions. The candidate must be well-versed in the California Building Code Standards (Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations and CALGreen) and understand construction methods across various building types. They should be able to read, interpret, and apply information from design and construction plans, calculations, and reports. Strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of inspection principles, methods, and safety hazards are essential. Experience using electronic tools such as handheld devices and permitting or plan-review software is highly desirable.

This position may be filled as a Building Inspector I or Building Inspector II, dependent upon candidate qualification

Salary Range
Building Inspector I: $38.45 - $49.23 Hourly
Building Inspector II: $42.44 - $54.33 Hourly
