Job Description
Seeking highly qualified business development professional to lead and expand our existing Architect-Engineer (AE) and Construction portfolios with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This includes AE contracts in support of Kansas City, Middle East, and Europe Districts as well as robust construction programs for Middle East and Omaha Districts. As a global full-service firm, CDM Smith’s has been serving USACE for over 30 years and holds multiple contract vehicles for engineering, full design, and construction projects. This candidate will foster growth in these national and international programs through development of strategies for new and existing contracts by aligning CDM Smith’s core competencies with USACE priorities.
As a Client Service Leader, you will work collaboratively within our federal services team to develop business plans to solve USACE’s and its customers’ engineering and construction challenges. This includes leading the capture of new contracts and task orders, conducting business planning including teaming strategies, overseeing proposal development, and maintaining client communications through project delivery.
**The position can be based out of any CDM Smith office, in the U.S. nationwide, with a preferred location of Virginia. We offer in office, hybrid or remote working environments allowing for flexible work options.**
As a member of our high-performing team, you will contribute to CDM Smith's federal mission by:
- Serving as the client-facing representative attune to USACE programs initiatives, budgeting, programming, legislation, and organizational changes.
Identifying and developing new business opportunities in both Architect-Engineer and Construction services with high priority USACE divisions and districts, CONUS and OCONUS. - Identifying, positioning, and promoting digital solutions (e.g., data analytics, digital delivery, asset management, automation) as part of client strategy, pursuits, and project delivery.
- Possessing an established business network (client decision-makers and teaming partners).
Serving as capture manager for proposal efforts to include managing and communicating amongst a diverse team of technical experts and marketing professionals. - Engaging with Program and Project Managers that will result in the delivery of quality projects that meet scope, schedule, budget and quality commitments to maintain client satisfaction.
- Maintaining awareness of federal marketplace related to business opportunities, including competitors, partners, and subcontractors/subconsultants.
- Contributing to firm's stature by actively participating in leadership roles in professional societies and associations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 15 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous related work experience with USACE military programs.
- Demonstrated success in business development and long-term relationship management for federal-sector clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, time management, organization, business acumen, and listening skills.
- Prior experience working for USACE or serving USACE is preferred.
- Prior experience working with OCONUS federal programs/projects is preferred.
