Consultant Psychiatrist – WACHS Perth
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is seeking experienced Psychiatrist for the to join the WACHS Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (ICAMHS) Specialist Hub.
Available positions:
- Consultant Psychiatrist - Sessional (0.4FTE). One session equals four hours.
- Consultant Psychiatrist + Head of Department Duties - Fixed term (0.6FTE) appointment for 5 years, with the possibility of extension(s).
- Flexible employment options are available, including full time, part time, and sessional arrangements.
About WACHS ICAMHS Specialist Hub (WISH)
The WACHS ICAMHS Specialist Hub (WISH) is a statewide virtual specialist service delivering advanced mental health care to children and young people aged 0–18 living across regional and remote Western Australia.
Working alongside regional ICAMHS teams, WISH provides:
- Specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment
- Consultation and shared care with local clinicians
- Clinical leadership and service development support
Beyond clinical care, WISH plays a vital role in building capability across the regional ICAMHS workforce, strengthening networks, and supporting culturally responsive, trauma informed models of specialist care.
The Opportunity
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will:
- Deliver specialist assessment and treatment for children aged between 0-18 years of age and their families, with Regional ICAMHS teams.
- Provide expert consultation to GPs, clinicians, and service providers across WA
- Support integrated, coordinated care for complex presentations.
- Contribute to service development, planning, and quality improvement.
- Help shape the future of child and adolescent mental health services in regional WA.
Head of Department (0.6 FTE option)
For the Head of Department WISH position, you will provide senior leadership across the WISH Program, reporting to the Director of Psychiatry (ICAMHS). This includes:
- Leading service development and clinical governance
- Supporting workforce capability and education
- Acting in senor leadership roles when required

Requirements
You Will:
- Be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist in psychiatry.
- Be a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or approved equivalent.
- Have completed (or is about to complete) the Advanced Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or approved equivalent.
- Bring substantial experience in infant, child and adolescent mental health.
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector, it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.
