Description
An integrated 360° advertising, marketing and social/digital agency with offices in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, NY, Baltimore, Dallas, and Richmond (VA) is seeking a full-time Sr. Director, New Business Development responsible for all agency new business development. Seeking a highly organized, independent, motivated and entrepreneurial team member with great proposal development, RFP management, writing, and storytelling skills and the ability to juggle a myriad of assignments and keep them moving forward on-time. This person will have the ability to operate strategically and tactically in virtual real time. This is a great opportunity for the right person with public sector RFP proposal development experience as well as sales and/or marketing experience to apply it with an agency that is committed to Doing a World of Good. Experience in government sector new business and proposal development is a requirement.
You will be working side-by-side with the President/CEO and strategic marketing planning – but you will “own” new business. You will be doing strategic thinking, organizing/writing/producing proposal responses, organizing new business meetings, new lead generation and outreach, networking, conducting marketing research, leading preparations for oral presentations, as well as pro-actively marketing and building brand awareness for the agency.
In addition, you'll be a part of the account service team and have an opportunity to work (on a limited basis) on current and prospective clients and participating in marketing brainstorming (because you are a key member of the strategic marketing team).
Details of the job include:
- Leading all New Business efforts, including developing fully prepared proposals and compelling presentation materials for prospective client presentations.
- Researching, identifying and assessing new business opportunities
- Mantaining a dara base of target clients and upcoming procurement opportunities
- Establishing win-themes
- Creating schedules and milestones for proposal process
- Attending pre-proposal conferences
- Organizing and submitting questions
- Identifying team members (including subcontractors/partners)
- Championing the entire proposal preparation process
- Assigning writing responsibilities
- Organizing and writing case studies
- Organizing and writing bios/resumes
- Working with the creative team to develop spec creative (if needed) and org chart/other inforgraphics
- In large proposal efforts driving the red team review
- Organizing and developing the forms and required documents
- Pulling the entire proposal together into one story/theme/voice
- Ensuring it responds to the RFP’s requirements and evaluation criteria
- Arranging and conducting QC review of final proposal
- Submitting proposal to client
- Following up on all submitted proposals
- When invited, organizing oral presentations
- Developing the presentation
- Organizing the presentation team
- Organizing rehearsal(s)
- Ensuring technology and everything is ready for orals
- FInalizing presentation and final preparations for orals
- Following up with client after orals to address any remaining questions
Requirements
Must haves:
A thick skin, highly organized, fearless sales/marketing skills, ability to take projects, own them, and deliver results (i.e., new business), excellent writing and editing skills, bachelor’s degree in PR, Advertising, Marketing or Mass Comm (or other appropriate area of study), excellent knowledge of MS Office, Canva, CRM, preferably with a Mac and exceptional presentation skills.
Ideal haves:
Sales/marketing ideas and experience in securing new business in an agency environment (with particular emphasis on RFP responses), public relations, marketing and desire to be a part of all things marketing (advertising, branding, integrated marketing)
