Description
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
Organized in 1888, the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX) was founded “to encourage a more intimate acquaintance and cultivate a feeling of friendship among its members, to make them better acquainted with the wants and necessities of the building business, arbitrate and settle disputes, if any arise, and generally to advance and protect their business interest as contractors and builders.”
The original association has developed into one of the largest and most active builders’ exchanges in the Western United States and is recognized as one of the leading organizations representing the overall construction industry in Northern California. SRBX operates as a large regional 501(c)6 trade association with substantial programming, events, facilities, and advocacy operations. SRBX represents Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, and Alpine counties as a member of the Golden State Builders Exchange Network - home of the largest online plan room in the state of California. SRBX also manages the Southern California Builders Exchange representing Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Imperial Counties. Fifty-two percent of the California population lives in a SRBX represented county. The GSBE Network represents more than 18,000 member companies. SRBX is also a partner with the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF). CIEF is one of the fastest growing construction workforce development organizations in the nation - serving nearly 17,000 high school students annually.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a rare opportunity to lead an organization with real influence across business, workforce development, public policy, and regional growth. SRBX sits at the center of major regional issues. Sacramento and the surrounding region is experiencing increasing demand for housing, infrastructure, schools, healthcare facilities, transportation, and public works. This position has the opportunity to influence how the construction industry responds to labor shortages, permitting challenges, workforce training, and regulatory change. This will be a highly visible position for someone that enjoys both coalition-building and strategic leadership among contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, educators, elected officials, labor stakeholders, and developers. Sacramento offers a growing economy, major state-government adjacency, and a relatively collaborative business environment that creates the opportunity for this to be a recognized regional leader. SRBX has a 15-member Board of Directors, 14 full-time and contract employees, and a $2.9 million operating budget. SRBX hosted more than 10,000 industry professionals at over 20 in person events in 2025, including hosting the second largest Women in Construction Conference in the United States.
