Location: California (travel required)
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation: $140,000–$160,000 annually, DOE, plus company vehicle, paid vacation and sick leave, and 100% employer-paid health benefits for the employee.
Lead the voice of California's logging and forest operations industry at a time when forest health, wildfire resilience, and sustainable resource management have never been more important.
The Associated California Loggers (ACL) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead California's premier trade association representing professional logging contractors and forest operations businesses.
This is a unique opportunity to advocate for an industry that plays a critical role in sustainable forest management, wildfire risk reduction, forest health, renewable resources, and rural economic vitality throughout California.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief executive, advocate, and spokesperson for the Association. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership while overseeing organizational operations, public policy initiatives, membership engagement, communications, financial management, and industry partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement ACL's strategic vision and Board priorities.
- Serve as the primary advocate for California's logging and forest operations industry.
- Build and maintain relationships with legislators, regulatory agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders.
- Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory issues affecting forestry and forest operations.
- Grow and strengthen membership engagement and value.
- Direct communications, marketing, and public outreach efforts that promote the positive contributions of forestry and logging.
- Manage organizational finances, budgeting, sponsorships, and revenue development.
- Coordinate industry meetings, educational programs, conferences, and special events.
- Promote workforce development, safety initiatives, and industry best practices.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
- Strong background in advocacy, government relations, regulatory affairs, association management, or natural resource industries.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
- Proven organizational and financial management experience.
- Knowledge of forestry, natural resources, forest operations, or related industries is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
