Position Overview
The Lead Installation Technician at Inland AV Solutions, Inc. is responsible for managing and executing installation tasks for assigned projects. In this role, the Lead Installation Technician will oversee project progress, coordinate with management, and ensure that objectives related to time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are met. Strong leadership and technical skills are essential to succeed in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing cable installations, terminations, mounting, and equipment setup.
- Building and wiring equipment racks, securing components, and completing system installations.
- Leading and supervising installation teams on large-scale, complex projects.
- Conducting system testing and assisting in commissioning to ensure optimal functionality.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Lead and mentor installation teams on-site, ensuring high-quality work and providing guidance to technicians.
- Oversee and perform installation tasks such as cabling, equipment setup, and system configuration based on project requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, including electronic schematics and architectural blueprints, to guide installations.
- Use a variety of tools, including hand tools and power tools, to complete installation tasks such as soldering, crimping, and securing components.
- Test and validate system functionality, including point-to-point cabling and overall system performance.
- Program and configure DSP systems in line with project specifications.
- Maintain organization and security of tools, equipment, and materials on the job site.
- Coordinate daily job site activities with management, providing regular progress updates and completing necessary documentation.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, addressing their needs and relaying any change requests to management for review and direction.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and teams on-site to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide training to clients as needed, ensuring they are confident in operating installed systems.
- Travel to various locations as required to support project installations and client needs.
Requirements
Required:
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, customers, and colleagues.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of hand tools and power tools.
- Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
- Basic computer proficiency to support documentation and system configuration tasks.
- Comprehensive understanding of audio, video, control, and network signal flow, including complex wiring configurations.
- Proven ability to lead teams on large-scale and technically challenging installation projects.
- Experience with making minor programming adjustments to control systems and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Skilled in using specialized testing equipment relevant to audio-visual system installations.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and installation codes, ensuring compliance on all projects.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record that meets Inland AV Solutions’ vehicle use standards.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in commercial audiovisual installations.
Desired:
- Industry certifications (CTS, CTS-I, OSHA, QSYS, DANTE).
- 4-6 years of experience in commercial audiovisual installations.
- 1-2 years leadership and/or supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and carrying:Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, often exceeding 50 pounds, depending on the project.
- Climbing:Comfort with climbing ladders and working at heights.
- Mobility:Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching into tight spaces.
- Hand dexterity:Fine motor skills to handle small wires and connectors.
- Endurance:Standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Vision:Good close-up vision and color perception for precise wiring and equipment setup.
