Reports to: Head of Digital Schedule: Remote, 40 hrs/week
About the Role
The Manager or Senior Manager of Social Media & Video is a creative digital storyteller responsible for managing States Win's day-to-day social media presence and leading the organization's video content program. This role is central to executing our 2026 goal of producing 2–4 videos per week, developing volunteer-facing video content, growing followers by 20%, and increasing donations via social. The Manager or Senior Manager of Social Media & Video will have the autonomy and support to build a high-quality video program and shape what States Win looks and sounds like across digital platforms.
Responsibilities
Video Production – 50%
Produce 2–4 short- and long-form videos per week across platforms (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, YouTube, Substack video)
Create high-impact videos for use as Meta ads, such as explainers covering field tactics, fundraising, and the importance of state legislatures
Shoot, script, record voiceover, and edit all video content end to end
Produce rapid-response video content highlighting breaking legislative news, floor speeches, and key political moments
Work with in-person fellows to produce regionally-specific video content for growth teams and local organizing
Support Substack Live (quarterly) with technical setup, promotion, and post-production clips
Create issue education videos that connect key policy topics to States Win's narrative and priorities
Ensure at least 80% of endorsed candidates, State Bridges partners, and alumni are featured in video content throughout the cycle
Maintain and organize video asset library
Social Media Management – 40%
Manage day-to-day social media presence across all active platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, Bluesky, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Maintain a weekly posting schedule; monitor trends and breaking news for rapid-response opportunities
Develop and maintain monthly social media content calendars in coordination with the Head of Digital and communications team
Track and report on social media performance metrics monthly; provide creative recommendations based on data
Engage with community in comments, DMs, and mentions in alignment with organizational voice
Collaborate with Graphic Designer on social visuals, thumbnails, and creative assets
Partnerships and Volunteer Support – 10%
Create and update social media kits and suggested messaging for volunteers, candidates, and partners
Work with fellows and volunteer teams on video training and best practices
Identify and develop partnership content opportunities with aligned organizations and influencers
Requirements
Strong passion for electing Democrats to state legislatures
2–4 years of experience in social media management, video content creation, or digital storytelling
Comfortable appearing on camera
Strong video production skills: shooting, scripting, and editing short-form video
Demonstrated experience growing social media accounts using video content
Deep familiarity with major social platforms and their respective algorithms and content formats
Proficiency with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts (essential)
Strong writing skills for social captions, scripts, and calls to action
Portfolio or reel demonstrating social video and/or content creation work
Experience professionally or volunteer/personal in progressive politics
Ability to work quickly in a rapid-response political environment
Commitment to progressive values and state legislative power-building
Bonus: experience with Substack, long-form video, or political campaign content
