Santa Cruz County Parks has two vacancies on their Park Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and energetic team dedicated to shaping the future of the County’s 70 parks, coastal access points, and open spaces, spanning the majestic redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains to the dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches along the Pacific Ocean.

Salary: $6,226 – 11,859 / Month
THE JOB: Park Planners oversee planning studies and capital projects through all phases of development, from property acquisition through design and construction. This recruitment is open at all levels of the Park Planner series, and candidates may be selected at any level based on their qualifications and the needs of the department. Please apply to the level(s) for which you wish to be considered. You may apply to multiple levels, but a separate application must be submitted for each level.
Under direction, Park Planners oversee master plan development, planning, design, and construction projects for parks and recreation facilities; prepare grant applications, construction documents, and master plans; administer grant, design, and construction contracts; conduct park planning and acquisition studies; may serve as project leaders or technical specialists; and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge andabilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these knowledge and abilities would be:
Park Planner I:
Two years experience in public or private landscape architectural, architectural, or civil engineering practices, plus completion of 12 semester units of college course work in park planning, park management or administration, or civil engineering, landscape architecture, or architecture.
OR
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in parks planning, architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture or related field.
OR
Possession of a valid Landscape Contractor or Building Contractor License issued by the State of California, plus completion of 12 semester units of college course work in park planning, architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or related field.
Park Planner II:
One year of professional park planning experience equivalent to a Park Planner I at Santa Cruz County.
Park Planner III:
One year of experience that is equivalent to a Park Planner II at Santa Cruz County.
OR
Two years of experience in landscape architecture or closely related professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree in parks planning, architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture or related field.
Park Planner IV:
One year of park planning experience equivalent to a Park Planner III at Santa Cruz County.
(Additional for Park Planner IV). Possession of a valid design license or certificateof registration as an architect, civil engineer and/or landscape architect from the State of California.
