Description
Position Title:Postdoctoral Scholar in Modeling and Control of Inverter-Dominated Electric Energy Networks
Position Type:
Fixed Term (Fixed Term)
Salary Range:
$61,008 - $71,008
Purpose:
Applications are invited for a new Postdoctoral Scholar/Visiting Scientist position in modeling and control of inverter-dominated electric energy networks in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Santa Clara University. This is an in-person position at Santa Clara University, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. The position is available for 12 months, with a possible extension depending on funding availability. The start date is negotiable.
We seek outstanding candidates who are experienced and excited about conducting high-quality research in an area that combines modeling, simulation, and control of emerging electric energy systems. The postdoctoral scientist will focus on developing a theoretical framework and simulation models for inverter-dominated electricity networks. The research will benefit many applications, including distributed sources connected via power electronic converters, microgrids, and large loads such as data centers.
A good working knowledge of the following topics is essential for this position: power system modeling, inverter dynamics, parameter identification, distributed control, and MATLAB implementations. The postdoctoral scientist will join Prof. Alex Stankovic's research program at Santa Clara. Prof. Stankovic moved to Santa Clara University in 2025 and is currently establishing his new research program in these areas. His research interests include modeling, estimation, and control of energy processing systems-power systems, electric drives, and power electronics.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
Applicants from diverse academic backgrounds (e.g., power systems, power
electronics, applied mathematics) with relevant skills are encouraged to apply. The ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced research environment, meet internal or external deadlines, and be self-motivated to learn new skills/tools is essential for success in this position.
The postdoctoral scholar is expected to have completed a Ph D in any of the following areas: electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a closely related field. They will have a promising track record of high-quality research, including publications in journals. Applicants with traditional or non-traditional career pathways are encouraged to apply.
The salary will follow the NIH national postdoctoral scholar salary scales and will be commensurate with the applicant#39;s record /experience, in addition to benefits. The position is available for 12 months
