Position Summary
Black Engineers of Canada (BEC) is seeking an experienced and proactive Recruitment Manager to lead and support its recruitment function. This role will be responsible for overseeing a team of three recruiters, driving recruitment efforts, managing escalations, and leading recruitment-related projects as they arise.
The Recruitment Manager will support continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen recruitment processes, and ensure an efficient and positive candidate experience. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote setting.
This is a voluntary part-time opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support the recruitment team.
- Monitor team performance, workload distribution, and recruitment outcomes
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for paid positions, including internships and other employment opportunities.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Ensure recruitment activities are aligned with organizational values, policies, and timelines.
- Maintain high standards for candidate experience and communication throughout the recruitment process.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement within recruitment operations.
- Support the implementation of new tools, workflows, documentation, and reporting processes.
- Manage and resolve recruitment-related escalations professionally and promptly.
- Ensure recruitment practices comply with applicable Canadian employment standards and legislation.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or HR
- Experience managing recruitment processes for paid positions in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Canadian employment standards and recruitment best practices.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, remote, or mission-driven environment is considered an asset.
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
