SALARY RANGE/BENEFITS: [$3,744 - $6,405 per month] The District contracts with the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). 2.7% @ 55 for Classic members or 2% @ 62 for PEPRA members. The District pays for medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents and life insurance for employees. The District also participates in the Social Security System. District paid leave time (sick, vacation, and holiday) is available in accordance with District policies.
POSITION: Under general supervision, performs, operates, and maintains the District’s water supply system. The principal duties are performed in a public utility environment which may include working outside in adverse weather conditions and exposure to potentially hazardous equipment and chemicals.
DUTIES: Depending on assignment, duties may include but are not limited to the following: perform a variety of assignments in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water facilities. Install and repair waterlines and mains; participate in the maintenance of booster pump structures, booster pumps, pressure regulating valves, and reservoirs. Operate and maintain SCADA system, able to operate basic Microsoft Applications and navigate a basic modern computer. Operating through and with email, internet, various software applications related to field, District operations and equipment. Operations with sodium hypochlorite equipment and chlorine analyzers. Responsible for Bac-T samples including general physicals, THMs, HAAs, and Fluoride. Install, repair, and replace water valve, fire hydrants, and tap lines, as necessary. Performs a variety of ground maintenance duties around utility facilities and operates heavy power-driven equipment such as skip-loaders, dump trucks, jack hammers, concrete saws, and compressors. Read water meters on assigned routes; record readings with computerized meter reading devices; install water meters, replace meter boxes, and lids; repair water meters as necessary; tests water meters using flow testers, scale, and gauge; turn off and lock services that are delinquent or are being discontinued; turn on new and re-established services; verify meter numbers and street addresses; respond to customer complaints and advise on a variety of water-related concerns including low and high water pressures, defective pressure regulators, and facility meters; investigate possible meter tampering. Clean and maintain basic tools used on the job. Mandatory standby duty for after hours and weekends is required for this position; the applicant must live within a 30-minute response time of the District service area.

Candidates will be required to pass a District administered pre-employment physical and pass a thorough background investigation as part of the selection process. Requirements
OUALIFICATIONS/GUIDELINES: Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the operation of power equipment, including trucks, loaders, and related equipment; tools, methods, and materials used in water construction, maintenance, and repair work. Skills and Abilities: The selected individual should possess a positive, no-nonsense attitude, maintain a professional and hardworking mindset, and be ready to engage as a team player in every aspect of the District’s field operations. Must safely operate assigned equipment and perform a full range of semi-skilled water system maintenances, construction, and repair work in an independent efficient manner. Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required to be maintained throughout employment with the District. State Water Resources Control Board- Distribution Grade I Certificate, and a Water Treatment Grade 1 Certificate are required within one year of employment with the District. Regular Work Schedule: 9/80 work week (every other Friday is off) and office hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with rotating standby schedules.
