Experience: 7 years in Quality Engineering. Requires skills and experience to involve:
Demonstrated expertise with Automotive Core Quality Tools: APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and PPAP.
Demonstrated technical understanding and practical application of 8D, 5-Why statistical techniques for problem-solving and process improvement with Cpk and Ppk.
Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing Process Qualification & Industrialization.
Demonstrated experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) & Compliance including technical understanding of industry quality standards (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949), the ability to train suppliers on quality systems, and experience in auditing to ensure compliance with quality processes.
Demonstrated experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) Methodologies.
Proficiency in Quality Data Monitoring Analysis & Reporting.
Job duties: The Staff Quality Engineer position will lead the supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer industrialization process from design through production ramp-up. Lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) through the start of production with supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer as well as Aurora’s OEM customers. Lead the development of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA), Control Plan, capability analysis, etc. in alignment with automotive APQP and PPAP requirements and activities. Support the development of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (dFMEAs), Process flow Diagram (PFD), and Work Instructions at supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer by closely working with Aurora design and NPI teams. Support supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer with tooling, equipment, and process qualifications by closely working with Aurora design and NPI teams. Assess supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer readiness for each build phase and help manage production risks. Lead root cause and corrective action efforts for any supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer related quality issues from production or field returns. Monitor and report supplier partner and/or contract manufacturer quality metrics both internally and externally to Aurora’s OEM customers to ensure continuous improvement. Uses lean tools, statistical techniques and analytical methods to achieve effective problem solving, root cause discovery and corrective action (8D Problem Solving, 5-Why) both internally and externally. Closely collaborate with other cross-functional teams throughout the industrialization phases to ensure products meet industry and Aurora’s quality standard. Train suppliers on Aurora quality system, process, and review part quality documentations. Support the development and continuous improvement of Aurora quality management systems with a focus on APQP and supplier partner/contract manufacturer management.
