JOB TITLE: Health Technician (RVT or LVT)
FLSA: Non-Exempt
FT/PT: Full Time
TERM: TEMPORARY - 6 months May/June - November/December
THE POSITION
PASADENA HUMANE is currently hiring Veterinary Heath Technicians with experience and licenses (RVT or LVT) in our Veterinary Health Department.
We are looking for professionals who learn quickly, have strong interpersonal skills and feel passionate about our mission. The right person for this job will be licensed as an RVT or LVT.
We care for all the pet animals and wildlife entering our shelter. As a Health Technician you will partner with veterinarians to address the husbandry, medical and behavioral needs of each animal on its journey to a forever home. In addition to partnering with veterinarians, Health Technicians work with multiple other teams, including animal control officers, customer care associates (in adoptions, the animal resource center, the SNiP clinic), and volunteer services, to ensure that animals become available for placement as expediently as possible.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for individuals who are comfortable working directly with animals in a medical and shelter environment. 3-5 years previous experience preferred. You should be a master of organization, comfortable on a learning curve, able to elicit cooperation and offer tangible contributions. You should thrive in a work environment where the pace and tasks change daily and collaboration brings best results.
We are looking for someone who has confidence and experience in:
High quality/high volume spay/neuter: we aim to perform 40 cat, dog and the occasional rabbit, spay/neuter surgeries a day, 4 days a week. We need a technician who is comfortable supporting high paced surgery, specifically anesthesia induction and monitoring. We also routinely perform amputations and enucleations. You will have an opportunity to develop your local block skills as well as your low stress handling skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
Fast-paced environment. Employees are exposed to numerous animals (living and deceased), including those with uncertain dispositions. They are required to act in a safe and responsible manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
