- Trademark Practice Leader & IP Strategist

Position Overview Sagacity Legal is not your standard law firm. We are a high-growth IP practice looking for a high-energy, entrepreneurial Trademark Attorney to take the reins of our Trademark Practice and build alongside us. Reporting directly to our CEO and Head of IP Practice, this role is a hybrid of top-tier legal execution, practice leadership, and practice expansion. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Practice Leadership & Portfolio Strategy
- Drive Global Brand Portfolios: Oversee, expand, and strategically direct complex domestic and international trademark portfolios through the USPTO, Madrid Protocol, and local counsel.
- Lead Clearance & Prosecution: Direct IP specialists through comprehensive searches, draft high-stakes availability/infringement opinions, and clear complex USPTO Office Actions.
- Protect & Enforce: Direct enforcement strategies, manage TTAB appeals, opposition and cancellation proceedings, negotiate coexistence/settlement agreements, and send high-impact cease-and-desist actions.
Entrepreneurial Growth & Client Counseling
- Grow the Practice: Actively fuel business development initiatives, pitch prospective clients, publish thought leadership, and participate in webinars to position the firm as the premier IP partner.
- Commercial Strategy: Partner with our Head of IP Transactions to structure licensing, assignments, and brand acquisition deals.
- Client Engagement: Serve as the primary trademark trusted advisor to business leaders, guiding them through audit programs, brand launches, and long-term IP defense.
Team & Operational Mentorship
- Scale the Team: Mentor, develop, and supervise junior attorneys, paralegals, and IP specialists.
- Innovate Operations: Optimize docketing, workflow automation, and search tool efficiency
Requirements
- Education & Credentials: J.D. from an accredited law school and active state bar membership in good standing.
- Experience: 5+ years specializing in trademark prosecution, TTAB practice, enforcement, and portfolio development (firm or in-house).
- Growth Mindset: A proven history of driving client retention, cross-selling legal services, or generating new business opportunities.
- Expertise: Deep command of the Lanham Act, USPTO procedures, and global filing systems.
- Execution: Superb communication skills, razor-sharp attention to detail, and the autonomy to manage a fast-moving docket.
