Description
This full-time, on-site Watchmaker role is based at CJ Charles Jewelers in La Jolla Shores, CA. The Watchmaker will perform diagnostic assessments, servicing, and repairs on a variety of luxury mechanical and quartz watches, ensuring that each timepiece meets brand specifications and performance standards. Daily responsibilities include disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, reassembly, regulation, and final testing, along with maintaining detailed service records and documentation. The role involves conducting quality checks, managing a service workflow, collaborating with sales and customer service teams to explain technical findings, and providing expert guidance on feasibility and timelines for repairs. The Watchmaker will also help maintain a clean, organized workshop, safeguard components and tools, and support a client-focused environment that reflects the company’s commitment to precision and luxury.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills in watch repair and servicing across mechanical and quartz watches.
- Experience working with clocks and related timekeeping mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability in quality control, including testing, regulation, and final inspection of timepieces.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling small components and complex movements.
- Formal watchmaking education or certification (e.g., WOSTEP, SAWTA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Previous experience with luxury watch brands and adherence to manufacturer service standards is highly beneficial.
- Strong manual dexterity, visual acuity, and ability to work with specialized tools in a bench environment.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with sales and service teams.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize multiple service jobs, and maintain an organized workspace.
